Moreland City Council relief measures

Tuesday 31 March

The Victorian Government has established an Economic Survival Package to support Victorian businesses and workers through the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The $1.7 billion Economic Survival Package complements the work of the Federal Government.

Full details of the package are available to download (PDF 103Kb).

The Federal Government has announced the JobKeeper Payment for businesses impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19). This means that you may be able to access a wage subsidy to continue paying your employees. Eligible employers will be able to claim a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee from 30 March 2020, for a maximum of 6 months.

The JobKeeper Payment will support employers to maintain their employees. Businesses can reactivate their operations quickly, without having to hire new staff when the crisis is over. Find out more and apply.

Monday 30 March

From midnight Monday 30 March 2020, Stage 3 restrictions will be in place nationally. National Cabinet agreed to limit indoor and outdoor gatherings to two persons. Read the full statement.

Exceptions include:

  • People living in the same household going out together
  • Funerals – maximum of 10 people
  • Weddings – maximum of 5 people
  • Family units or people living at the same address.

National Cabinet’s strong guidance to all Australians is to stay at home unless:

  • Shopping for what you absolutely need (eg. food)
  • Seeking medical or health care requirements, including caring for someone
  • Exercising in compliance with the public gathering restrictions
  • Working and studying if you can’t do so remotely.

In addition, playgrounds, skate parks and outside gyms in public places will be closed. Bootcamps will be reduced to two persons, including the trainer.

A dedicated Covid-19 App has been launched and is available in the Apple App Store or Google Play. A WhatsApp chat has been launched and is avaible to download on iOS or Android.
